ABOUT THE NORTH SEATTLE MARIACHI

Founded in February 2024, North Seattle Mariachi is a vibrant youth ensemble made up of students from across the Seattle area. A project of Orquesta Northwest, created in partnership with Ingraham High School and Seattle Public Schools, the group provides a welcoming space for young people of all musical backgrounds - including many who are learning mariachi music or an instrument for the very first time.

Through rehearsals, performances, and community events, North Seattle Mariachi has quickly become a joyful and visible part of Seattle’s cultural landscape, sharing the tradition and spirit of mariachi with audiences throughout the community.

From this program, our advanced performance group, Mariachi Estrellas del Norte, was born. As ambassadors for Mexican music and culture, Mariachi Estrellas del Norte represent both the artistry and the heritage of mariachi at a higher level. They perform at community gatherings, cultural celebrations, and public events, proudly showcasing the richness of this tradition while inspiring future generations of young musicians.

The North Seattle Mariachi Project embodies our mission: to celebrate culture, build community, and create opportunities for youth to thrive through the beauty of mariachi music.
