About the Performers

Bailadores de Bronce

Bailadores de Bronce promotes the beauty and richness of Mexican traditions through music and dance in the Pacific Northwest. We create a bridge of understanding among all people by sharing our culture, preserving our traditions and instilling pride in our youth.

Trio Guadalevín

Trio Guadalevin explores the musical connections between Mexico and the Mediterranean. Together, percussionist Antonio Gomez (Associate Director of Education, Tacoma Arts Live) and multi-instrumentalists Abel Rocha (founding member of Correo Aereo and Los Flacos) and August Denhard (founder of Eurasia Consort, Executive Director of Early Music Northwest) explore and often reimagine the dialogue between Indigenous, European and African cultures, which defines Latin American music and identity. The ensemble takes a fresh, innovative approach to music with deep roots: from the son huasteco and son jarocho of Mexico, to Afro-Oaxacan music, Sephardic Jewish melodies, Spanish fandangos and xicaras, Arab-Andalusian song and Italian ciaccona and tarantella. Instruments featured in their performances include the guitar, oud, theorbo, baroque guitar, vihuela, jarana, quinta huapanguera, harp, bendir, riqq, bombo, pandero cuadrado, pandereta, teponatzli, cajon and more.

Ce Atl Tonalli, Aztec Dancers General Ismael López Xiutecpatl

Ce Atl Tonalli, Aztec Dancers General Ismael López Xiutecpat, is a traditional Aztec Dance group. We have been dancing in the Northwest since 2004. We have been organizing ceremonies, Danza presentations, historical and cultural workshops, artistic projects and community engagement. Members travel to Mexico to maintain our connection to the land, continue learning our language and traditions and to participate in ceremonies. We also bring teachers from Mexico here to Seattle to continue the legacy of sharing teachings and culture with our brothers and sisters of the north. Our group hosts the Yankuik Xihuitl/Mexica New year ceremony each year in March. We believe that we have the power to change ourselves and come together collectively to empower our community for self-determination through our rich history and traditions. We are the dreams of our ancestors.

El Mariachi Hermanas Rosario es un grupo de mariachi femenino con sede en Seattle, Washington, que ofrece música para bodas, quinceañeras, misas católicas y otros eventos especiales en el área de PNW y alrededores.

Maria G. Casey

Founder and principal instructor at The Fat Brush Art Workshop. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from Universidad Femenina de Mexico and a Diplome’ de Maitre de Formation de Pebeo in Art from Provence, France.

I ran my own Interior Design business, worked teaching art for a television show and as a Project Art Coordinator in two magazines.

Currently I serve as Art Instructor at schools in the Seattle Archdiocese, teaching a wide variety of creative expressions. I collaborate with the Lynnwood Library, the Everett Community College and WAGRO foundation where I work with underprivileged Latino and Hispanic children, helping them to understand their culture and identity through the arts.

I also have two certifications in Children with Special Needs: Phsysical Disabilities and The Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) by NAMI Eastside (National Alliance on Mental Illness).

Ballard Civic Orchestra

The Ballard Civic Orchestra is a professional and volunteer orchestra led by music director Paula Madrigal, which features Latinx music, guest artists and composers while highlighting Latino musical arts and culture. The Ballard Civic Orchestra strives to connect with its culturally diverse audience through music and the arts.
