Ballard Civic Orchestra
The Ballard Civic Orchestra is a professional and volunteer orchestra led by music director Paula Madrigal, which features Latinx music, guest artists and composers while highlighting Latino musical arts and culture. The Ballard Civic Orchestra strives to connect with its culturally diverse audience through music and the arts.
José Rubio, Baritone
Internationally acclaimed baritone José Rubio has captivated audiences around the world with performances at iconic venues such as the Staatsoper in Berlin, the Ronacher Theatre in Vienna and the National Centre for the Performing Arts in China. With a repertoire spanning classical roles in Don Giovanni and Carmen, and contemporary premieres around the world, his artistry defines excellence in modern opera.
Soledad Mayorga, Soprano
The Chilean soprano, María Soledad Mayorga-Maldonado, graduated in Music from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile; and graduated in Musical Performance with a Mention in Lyrical Singing from Universidad Mayor. Superior Musical Performer in Lyrical Singing with Mention.
Soledad Mayorga serves as teacher of Music Pedagogy at the Universidad de Valparaíso. She is a member of Camerata Vocal de la Universidad de Chile & Coro Sinfónico de la Universidad de Chile. Soledad Mayorga-Maldonado and pianist Pilar Peña-Queralt have been performing together for 20 years (as of 2023); they travel to us from Chile and France, respectively, to present a concert of music by contemporary Chilean composers and a master-class with UW voice students. They have selected music written by Chilean composers in this program showcasing the stylistic and linguistic breadth of Chilean works from the late 20th Century to the present day.
